Skeptik VS. TheVishuddha

For everyone who keeps asking about this project the answer is yes. Skeptik is now working for The Vishuddha. We built out the web site and the project went so well that we will be expanding into a consulting roll. I can’t tell you all the details yet but here is a peak at some thing we have been working on for the shop.

The Third Coming?

I have been hearing about KL’s new album and how it’s going to change the face of rap, bring back the west coast, rejuvenate Dre. Honestly I don’t see it. The song with Dre is great and the old stuff with Schoolboy Q is DOPE but the full length sounds flat. Every song is sort of the same and out side of “swimming pools” they all blend into on mediocre track. The next west coast G rapper? that’s a knee slapper.

I have seen this guy play the north east a ton over the last few years. He just dropped a new album with Producer Ryan Lewis. Some of the tracks have been out in one form or another but this release sounds a lot better. It’s funny how a guy with no major label backing can out sell Pdiddys new artest MGK first week out. See kiddies grass roots fan bases are always the key.

Aaron Sims is responsible for some of the best looking SiFi creatures in recent memory. The last few months he has been working on a passion project called RL7. Yay the new iphone is bigger lighter faster and looks just like the old one. Maybe its the old man in me but aesthetics are important as well. I want some thing that is elegant to use and look ay. Rather than post the actual key note that my 2 year old could have delivered more smoothly than the talking head apple hired. Styles Of Beyond - Damn (Feat. Michael Bublé)

A little history: Styles of Beyond was the first iteration of fort minor. So the story of this song goes that Ryu met Michael Buble at a party in the valley. Neither know who the other was but they hung out all night. Buble agreed to do a track with Ryu (still not knowing the music style) and this is that track. It’s a shame that this will not be on any album but at least you can hear it until Buble’s people have it removed from youtube.

Breaking ?

When I was coming up I was so jelious of breakers. Everyone would mess around in the garage on some cardboard but the good breakers were so alien to me. The ability to do head spins and flairs eluded me so it never became any thing more than a spectator sport.

Times have changed and it seems like we are seeing more and more fusion in dance these days. Check out this from Lil Buck.

So it looks like Marvel Studios may be entering into the relm of TV. Apparently Joss Wehadon’s concept for a show based on S.H.E.I.L.D. is getting the green light (cool your jets its just a pilot). Joss has a long back ground in TV and is a hero in the nerd-o-sphere for Buffy, doll house and the like. This could be a colossal failure being that it’s going to a major network but I could see it being a nice bridge into some of the lesser known characters.

PPR Football Ranking (the do not’s)

This time of year everyone is looking for the next Cam Newton. Alow me to be the voice of reason and the storm cloud above your victory parade. This post is for those looking to avoid fantasy football failure in PPR leagues. Here is a list of players to watch out for.

Calvin Johnson - Yes he is a great receiver but can he repeat a 1600 yard year (it has never been done) more importantly can his QB remain elite with no running game.

Roddy White - Sure he is a stud but I can see a lot more balls going Julio Jones way this year.

Wes Welker - With the addition of Loyd and Gronk and Hernandez getting better I see him taking a back seat.

Tom Brady - Definitely a top QB but the O line looks terrible.

Drew Brees - No Robert Mecham or head coach, this does not look good.

MJD - Guess who else held out all of training camp? Chris Johnson and it took him till week ten to start producing.

Mike Wallace - Also a hold out and he is competing for a #1 spot.

Fred Jackson - One year of performance caped off with a knee injury and 31st birthday, nuff said.

Trent Richardson - Stud in collage but missed all of camp with an injury and is a rookie.

Dez Bryant - He has a team of people following him around to make sure he does not wander into a strip club.

I first saw Rich’s work when he was putting out fan posters for Breaking Bad. Right away it felt special. The stuff looked like Jeremy Fish and Norman Rockwell got together for a collaboration. In all truth I don’t know a ton about the guy but as they say “I know what I like”.

X vs A

So as you know Im pretty big into comic books. I kinda hate admitting this given how much attention these two franchises have gotten lately but the Avengers vs Xmen series has been rad. To catch up read messiah complex, its a good crash corse on the beginnings of this story and dark phoenix explains a lot as well. Any way, it basically shows what would happen if the Xmen’s big 5 had the powers of the Phoenix and the New Avengers had to wrangle them. There is only one book left in the series so jump on it now before the last one drops.

*It starts super slow and predictable but getts better, you have been warned

Progressive Sucks

Recently Progressive insurance has been taking a lot of heat. A man tweeted that his sister was killed in an accident and Progressive was doing everything in its power to not pay the family (check out the story here). The man claimed that Progressive went as far as paying the oposition to hire a better lawyer. He also claimed that they were not returning phone calls and refusing to pay a dime of her life insurance claim (thus she was cremated rather than burried due to cost constraints).

The story went viral and with in hours every geek with a conscious and a twitter account was hate blasting Progressive. The only problem was the whole thing was made up.

An LA comedian who was dropped from progressives coverage decided to get even with the company by creating the story and blasting it out to his massive social media audience. Although this was just a prank actual news outlets have been claiming the story as fact. I guess the take away is dont believe every thing you read (on twitter). Also don’t fuck with comedians who have more followers than you.

Recently I sold a couch on craigslist. Needless to say I did not want a bunch of craigs list creeps having my cell number. Thats where burner comes in handy. It allows you to create anonymous temporary numbers. Think of the applications. chicks you meet at the bar, selling stolen car parts, giving out directions to raves (actually I’m pretty sure that last one is not still a thing). Check it out.
